Carla Gugino in Wayward Pines

Gugino_Carla 01.01 Wayward Pines © 2014 FOXCarla Gugino (Sydney St. James from Falcon Crest’s season 9) will star in the upcoming FOX series Wayward Pines by M. Night Shyamalan (see our news dated 2013-07-29).

Finally, a release date has been announced: The series will premiere on May 14, 2015.

Wayward Pines centers on a Secret Service agent named Ethan Burke (played by Matt Dillon) who’s searching for two missing agents in the titular town.

Gugino plays Kate Hewson, Ethan’s former partner and ex-girlfriend who now lives in Wayward Pines. She’s smart, capable, loyal, fiery, blunt and fearless. But their former love for each other simmers just below the surface.

The star-studded project (Juliette Lewis, Melissa Leo, Terence Howard and Reed Diamond are also part of the cast), based on the best-selling novel of the same name, is billed as a mind-bending new thriller set in a small town where nothing is what it seems.

There’s also a brand new trailer online.

Carla Gugino Joins Fox's Wayward Pines

Gugino joins as Kate Hewson, Ethan’s former partner and ex-girlfriend who now lives in Wayward Pines. She’s smart, capable, loyal, fiery, blunt and fearless. But their former love for each other simmers just below the surface.

The star-studded project, based on the best-selling novel of the same name, is billed as a mind-bending new thriller set in a small town where nothing is what it seems.

Fans of the mystery series Twin Peaks might think this sounds familiar, but director M. Night Shyamalan (The Sixth Sense)  dismisses comparisons between his show and the cult classic of the 90s.  "I'm not copying anybody," said the After Earth director. "I don't like copying anything, so the specificity will be the way you'll know that it's different."

Wayward Pines is scheduled to be premiered in 2014.

Carla Gugino unhappy with Hollywood's treatment of aging actresses

Carla Gugino (37) has admitted that she doesn't like the way aging actresses are treated in Hollywood.

It is bizarre, certainly in Hollywood, when you hit 23 [and] people start to ask you, 'How does it feel to get older?' the New York Post quoted her as telling Moves magazine.

It is absolutely surreal because, as a woman, when you hit your 30s it's just the beginning of owning yourself and being in your own body, she added.

Gugino said that one of her friends was told by a dermatologist, Your face is very expressive-let me know if you want me to do something about that. I mean, wait a minute-isn't an expressive face a good thing?
