Kim Novak talks about her Oscar appearance

 

After her recent Oscar speech, Kim Novak received a lot of bad press and comments about her unnaturally looks and her appearance.
Now, she decided to go in public and write an open letter about being bullied by the press and the public on the internet and on TV.

She also talked about this issue with Robert Osbornre at the TCM Classic Film Festival before a screening of her movie “Bell, Book and Candle” at the Egyptian Theatre on April 19, 2014.

KIM NOVAK SPEAKS OUT ABOUT OSCAR BULLYING
It’s time to address the elephant in the room...the Oscars. I was very excited when I was asked to be a presenter on the show. I was excited, yet nervous.
Years ago, I walked away from Hollywood partially because I didn’t stand up to the bullies. I caved in to the pressure instead of fighting for what I felt was right…and I didn’t have the courage to prove myself to my peers through my work.
After my appearance on the Oscars this year, I read all the jabs. I know what Donald Trump and others said, and I’m not going to deny that I had fat injections in my face. They seemed far less invasive than a face-lift. It was done in 2012 for the TCM interview special. In my opinion, a person has a right to look as good as they can, and I feel better when I look better.
When I was honored at the Cannes Film Festival last year, I received an overwhelming standing ovation. Yet, in Hollywood, after the Oscars, I was bullied by the press and the public on the Internet and TV. The only difference that night was that I had taken a pill to relax—that I shouldn’t have taken. I had been fasting for three days and it affected my behavior. I regret taking it.
However, I will no longer hold myself back from speaking out against bullies. We can’t let people get away with affecting our lives. We need to stand up to them in a healthy way by speaking out, working out and acting out. I am speaking out now because I don’t want to harbor unhealthy feelings inside me anymore.
One of the reasons I enjoy exercising and painting so much is that I can let out my frustrations and reactions to what’s happening in the world around me by working it out in a healthy way. It helps me, and doesn’t hurt anything or anybody. People need to get these things out of their systems and stand up to bullying. I believe there would be less suffering and violence, too!

Kim Novak to present at the Oscars

Neil Meron co-producer of the Academy Awards tweeted that Falcon Crest guest star Kim Novak (81) will be a presenter at the Oscars on March 2nd.
Novak makes rare appearances these days. She did come to last year’s Cannes Film Festival and we also saw her in public in 2012, when she received her star on the Hollywood Boulevard.
Since being retired from acting (after having a bad experience with director Mike Figgis while working on the movie “Liebestraum” in 1991 ) she resides with husband Robert Malloy on a ranch in Oregon where they raise horses and llamas. Novak is also an accomplished artist and has exhibited several of her oil paintings in art galleries.

Kim Novak at Cannes Festival

Kim Novak (80) was a guest of honor at the 66th Cannes film festival and presented a new restored version of her 1958 movie 'Vertigo'. She also presented the Palme d'Or award to actor Oscar Isaac, wo accepted the award on behalf of directors Ethan and Joel Coen for their film Inside Llewyn Davis.

At the award ceremony, Kim Novak wore a red-blue dress she wore on Falcon Crest in 1987!

Kim Novak honored at Grauman's Chinese Theatre

Kim Novak was immortalized on Hollywood Boulevard when she sank her hands and feet into a block of wet cement in the forecourt of Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood on Saturday, April 14 2012.

Novak, 79, left her signature marks on the famous ground as a sign of the recognition she said she hungered for throughout her life. Her manager and friend Sue Cameron, actresses Debbie Reynolds and Connie Stevens and director Norman Jewison joined her at the ceremony. Nicole Kidman and Renée Zellweger sent letters to congratulate Kim.

The event was held in connection with the four-day TCM Classic Film Festival which features a screening of "Vertigo," one of Novak's major box-office hits, and her taping of an interview with the television channel's host Robert Osborne.

In an interview with Osborne during the film festival before a 300-people audience Friday, Novak said she sometimes regrets her decision to leave Hollywood in the late 1960s at the heyday of her fame. "I don't think I was ever cut out to have a Hollywood life," Novak said. "Did I do the right thing, leaving? Did I walk out when I shouldn't have? That's when I get sad."

A teenager model-turned-actress, Novak played her first starring role in the 1953 crime melodrama "Pushover." Best known for her role as Judy Barton in the 1958 Alfred Hitchcock film " Vertigo," Novak played her last major role in the 1991 thriller " Liebestraum," casting as an estranged mother who only found unpleasant truths after returning home.

Since the theater opened in 1927, hundreds of outstanding stars in the film industry have had their handprints and footprints in the forecourt. 

Kim Novak to Be Honored at TCM Festival

The 2012 TCM Classic Film Festival will honor actress Kim Novak with a multi-tiered celebration of her extraordinary career. Among the events, Novak will have her hand and footprints enshrined in concrete in front of Grauman’s Chinese Theater.

She will also join TCM host Robert Osborne for an in-depth conversation to be taped in front of a live audience for airing on TCM later. And she will introduce a screening of Alfred Hitchcock’s suspenseful classic Vertigo (1958). The TCM Classic Film Festival takes place Thursday, April 12 – Sunday, April 15, in Hollywood.

Novak and Osborne’s conversation will air on TCM next year as an original special entitled Kim Novak: Live from the TCM Classic Film Festival. The chat will be taped Friday, April 13, at The Avalon.

Novak’s hand and footprints ceremony will take place Saturday, April 14, in front of Grauman’s Chinese Theater. This marks the second consecutive year TCM has featured hand and footprint ceremony at Grauman’s Chinese Theater. Last year, Peter O’Toole was the honoree.

Novak will also introduce a festival screening of Vertigo at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre. The film, which features one of Novak’s most powerful and seductive roles, is considered by many to be Hitchcock’s best film.

Kim Novak Accuses Oscar-Contender 'The Artist' Of Rape

Kim Novak has lashed out at the makers of the Oscar-tipped silent movie The Artist, Fox News has reported. The actress, 78, took out a full-page advert in Variety magazine, stating that Michael Hazanavicius had plagiarised the Alfred Hitchcock classic Vertigo, in which she starred, by using sections of the movie's score within the score for his own film.

Kim Novak diagnosed with Breast Cancer

Actress Kim Novak is undergoing treatment for breast cancer.

Novak's manager says the 77-year-old "Vertigo" actress will receive "minimal" treatment, as the cancer was caught early by a routine mammogram and that she is in "fantastic physical shape."

Manager Sue Cameron says Novak works out with a trainer three times a week and rides horses daily.

Cameron says Novak is expected to "be just fine."

Over 700 people showed up at the Egyptian Theatre for a sold out "Platinum Tribute" to Kim Novak celebrating Sony's release of "The Kim Novak Boxed Collection" DVD set on July 30, 2010.

There was a private reception for Kim earlier at the Essex Public House on Hollywood Blvd.
Her movies were shown for four days. On the opening night, "Bell Book and Candle" was shown, followed by a Questions and Answers part with Kim.

Kim Novak: Legal action

Kim Novak has legally demanded from German rock band "Kill Kim Novak" to give up their name. Her lawyers writing stated amongst other reasons that German fans of the bands were at her property in the States trying to kill the actress, taking the band’s name by word. The band has taken legal actions themselves and the issue is being fought out through the lawyers of both parties.
